ShuttleMate Driver App Privacy Policy

Information We Collect

To set up and operate driver accounts we collect:

• Driver name and email address
• Assigned start and end points (your route designations)
• Location data while you are broadcasting
• Device info (phone model, OS version) for debugging

When Location Is Shared

Your real-time location is shared only when you press the Start Broadcasting button. When broadcasting is active:

• The app sends live GPS to our servers so students can track the shuttle.
• Geofencing starts so the system can detect arrival at stops.
• A foreground service on Android keeps tracking active while broadcasting.

When you stop broadcasting, location updates and geofencing stop immediately.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information you provide for:

• Showing your shuttle's live position to students while broadcasting
• Detecting stop arrivals via geofencing
• Sending important notifications from school officials and the ShuttleMate team
• Fixing bugs and improving app reliability
• Recording donations made through the app (donations are optional)

Notifications

You may receive notifications from:

• School administrators (official announcements or instructions)
• The ShuttleMate team (updates and important info)

Notifications use a dedicated channel and are not used for spam or unrelated promotions.

Data Sharing & Storage

We do not sell or rent your data. Your information is only used within the ShuttleMate system to provide the service.

Location data is not stored long-term and is not shared with third parties outside our system.

Data Security

We protect driver data by:

• Encrypting communication between the app and our servers
• Using secure storage for profile information
• Following best practices to prevent unauthorized access

Your Rights

You can request that we update or delete your account data. Contact us if you want your info changed or removed.
